IOANNIS DIMITROUSIS SS11

London fashion week

S/S 11

Greek-born Ioannis Dimitrousis graduated in 2005 from the London College of Fashion in Menswear but soon moved forward from his first genderless collections to designing for women. The young designer’s professional debut at On/Off during London Fashion Week was an exciting opportunity to showcase his designs, which led to reviews from Suzy Menkes at The International Herald Tribune and a feature in Sandy Black’s book “Fashioning Fabrics”, both acknowledging his talent.

Ioannis Dimitrousis’ work is the constant contemporary exploration of traditional handcrafted techniques of crochet mixed with semi precious stones, crystal, pearls and beads through scarves, tops and dresses using organic and luxurious materials to reflect the most intricate detailing.

For his SS11 collection, the designer draws his inspiration from the poem Balladyna, a masterpiece of Polish romantic literature written by Juliusz S?owacki revolving around the themes of passion, power and destiny. Accordingly the materials used are rayon yarn, handmade crochet and suede to create sculptured and curved shapes with simplicity and urban romanticism. This is the second collection of womenswear only for Ioannis Dimitrousis;it is delicate, intriguing and focused on a woman’s body shape and quality.Every piece always results in the unexpected combination of fabrics and decorative effects driven by a strong sense of individuality to cast an immediate spell on the viewer.

Ioannis Dimitrousis’ fascinating designs have already been featured in major publications such as Vogue UK,Vogue Greece, Vogue Russia, Vogue India, Dazed and Confused, 10 Magazine and many others, as well as been featured in video projects for Showstudio.com and DazedDigital.com.
